Alien saucers and asteroids are heading for your rocket. Type each word to zap it. Three hits and it's over.

How to play Space Typing

  1. Press Start. Saucers and asteroids appear at the top and drift toward your rocket.
  2. Type a target's word to zap it. The first letter locks on, and its label turns yellow.
  3. Each zapped saucer or asteroid scores one point per letter.
  4. Let three of them reach the rocket and the game is over.

Space Typing uses longer words than the other games: four to six letters at first, then six to nine after 30 seconds. Saucers also speed up over time, so later waves really test your accuracy under pressure.

An asteroid typing game, too

About one target in three is an asteroid instead of a saucer. They work the same way, so if you were looking for an asteroid typing game, this is it: type the word on each space rock before it hits your ship.

Tips for defending your rocket

  • Target the saucer closest to the rocket first. It is picked automatically when first letters match.
  • Long words reward rhythm. Type through the whole word instead of pausing between letters.
  • If you lock onto the wrong saucer, finish the word quickly rather than mashing keys.

Practicing long words here pays off in the typing test, where long words are often what breaks a good rhythm.
