Why it looks like 1995
The early web was simple: pages loaded fast, links were blue and underlined, and buttons looked like buttons. We like that, so Typing95 borrows the look of that era (gray bevels, navy title bars, pixel art) while being built to work reliably in today's browsers and on phones. All the artwork and practice texts on the site are original.
Honest scores
Your words per minute count only the characters you typed correctly, and accuracy counts every wrong keystroke, even one you fixed. We explain exactly how WPM is calculated and how accuracy works, so a score on Typing95 means what it says.
Free, without accounts
Everything is free and works without signing up. What you type stays in your browser and is never sent to us. The site is paid for by ads from Google AdSense, which are kept away from the typing area so they never get in the way of a test. Read the privacy policy for the details.
