Blind Typing Test

What is blind typing?

Blind typing, also called touch typing, means typing without looking at the keyboard. Your fingers know where each key is from practice, so your eyes can stay on the text. This test goes one step further: because mistakes aren't highlighted, you can't rely on the screen to catch them either. Your results at the end show your real accuracy.

How to type without looking at the keyboard

1. Anchor on the home row. Feel for the bumps on F and J and rest your fingers on A S D F and J K L ;. See the finger placement chart.
2. Give every key one finger. Always use the same finger for the same key, so the movement becomes automatic.
3. Cover your hands if you have to. A towel or sheet of paper over the keyboard removes the temptation to peek.
4. Go slowly at first. Accuracy builds the memory; speed comes later.
5. Practice the keys you miss. The typing lessons drill one row at a time.

Tips for this test

• Feel each word rather than watching it. If something felt wrong, trust that feeling and fix it.
• Backspace still works, so you can correct mistakes you notice.
• Compare your accuracy here with the normal typing test. A big drop means you rely on the colors.
