Alphabet Typing Test
How fast can you type the alphabet? Type every letter from A to Z as fast as you can. The clock starts on your first key and stops on Z, timed to the hundredth of a second.

Your best (A to Z): no time yet
How the alphabet typing test works
- A to Z: type all 26 letters in one go, with no spaces.
- A to Z with spaces: press Space after every letter. Slower, but it tests your thumbs too.
- Z to A: the alphabet backwards. Much harder, because you can't rely on habit.
A wrong letter counts as a mistake. Fix it with Backspace to keep going. Your best time for each mode is saved in this browser only.
What is a good alphabet typing time?
There's no official benchmark, and times vary a lot with the keyboard and technique. The most useful comparison is with yourself: take five tries, note your best, and come back tomorrow. Because the letters jump all over the keyboard, a fast alphabet time is a good sign of solid touch typing.
Tips to type the alphabet faster
- Keep your fingers on the home row; the alphabet uses every row and every finger.
- Learn the order as a pattern of finger movements, not a list of letters.
- Accuracy wins: a single mistake and Backspace cost more than typing a little slower.
Then put that speed to work in real words with the typing test.
